That's because these are old pictures that were posted a long time ago...

I don't do Twitter, so I appreciate you posting pics/info from CP's Twitter account.

No it isn't. It's nice, and hopefully it gets completed, but that's a lot of (unecessary) hyperbole and boasting there. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't even on the radar for most people not from or living in Regina.

If it actually gets built and people actually live in it, it will be one of the most important projects in a very long time.

A substantial, tall residential project is important. It's more important than a lot of things.

True, but there are already some fairly substantial residential buildings nearby as well. They are older and not as "pretty", but it's not entirely unique. And Gardens on Rose + Centre Point Plaza together are basically equal to the residential portion of Capital Pointe.

So yes, I think it'll be a great addition, but it's not going to single-handedly change Regina in a massively transformative way.

Sure, but Capital Pointe is a much higher profile and over twice the height of the other projects. I think it's fair to say that it's much more important than than either of those projects. When complete it would signify much more.

If Capital Pointe was a success it would be more important at bringing people downtown. But I'm not sure that's going to happen, at least not in the next few years.

There are signs warning about the open excavation, but you'd think actually closing off the open excavation would be a priority. Would take zero effort for someone to wander into the construction site now (OK, they'd have to crouch... so a bit of effort).

The conspiracy theorist in me still thinks the developer is trying to get the project shut down.

Ah, the elephant in the room makes an appearance.

I'm with BrutallyDishonest2. This is a huge project from a number of standpoints. Scale and scope being one. An outside firm doing the development being another. A push of the core towards the Cathedral area. The envigoring of one of the most imnportant intersections (on paper) in town. If they can make it happen it will do a lot to raising potential interest in other developers not currently in the market to look at potentials.

So many reasons to want this to succeed. Just hoping it does.

They fixed it up this week and have started putting the barricades onto the third lane on Albert Street also.

Watching the webcam during the day, it truly amazes me how many people ignore the sidewalk closed signs and walk in the lane of traffic on Victoria.

Really? I have stopped being amazed at the stupidity of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists for a while now.

Yup, noticed them the other day when I was walking home. They also announced on Twitter that they are nearly finished shoring on Victoria and will be moving into Albert very soon.
