"True North Sports & Entertainment will be conducting an online market research survey about a potential WHL team in the Winnipeg market starting today and running through Tuesday."

I think its cool, i'd check out a few games, though admittedly I wouldn't be a regular nor hardcore follower

Thanks, Downtown Winnipeg could surely use this, we have too many streets and one ways it is like a freaking freeway out of downtown. It is really not enjoyable walking by cars that are speeding. It is unsafe and toxic and noisy which is another reason as to why living downtown is unattractive.

You could change that to a degree by simply eliminating the one-way streets. Two way streets flow slower. Thunder Bay's downtown is small but it takes about as long to get through it as it does to get through Winnipeg's downtown because you can't go faster than 30km/h or you'll hit something.

People here don't understand one-way streets so if you see a car from Ontario please give it lots of room.

Brutal travel for the players, unless True North will fly the team on frequent occasions

With leagues like that it is not uncommon just to have longer road trips where the players aren't constantly going back and forth between Winnipeg and the BC interior.

For Winnipeg a WHL team could, probably would succeed in 2013, when was the last team here late 70's, Winnipeg has changed and with proper ownership( TNSE) It could, probably would succeed.

This discussion started sometime ago with denials that it's not in the future, with actual surveys being done, it's past that stage...It's just the way TNSE operates, no announcement until it's a done deal, we'll know soon enough.

There's an announcement in Regina the same day. The rumours circulating are McCartney; and I've heard that Winnipeg's is to be McCartney as well.

Maybe they'll reconsider once vid's idea is officially tabled.

Sorry to disappoint, but McCartney is coming to Regina on Aug. 14.

Perhaps Calgary will get Nickleback?

Buffer zone for cyclists mulled

Province may require motorists to move over

The province is looking at amending its traffic laws to specify how much space motorists must give cyclists when passing them on the street.

Bike Winnipeg says the Highway Traffic Act is too vague and drivers should give cyclists at least one metre or pass them using the next lane over.

As this is a By-Law Issue in wpg. I've posted it here, as Rapid Transit does seem appropriate in some ways, a by-Law change fits the "other topics",Safety for cyclists, etc..
