Yeah. The German economy is in the can too.

FWIW...I had a friend return from Europe recently utilizing this route (FRA-AUS). He said the flight was full.

Lufty has decent loads and CASM so perhaps they might stay for a bit depending on the economy. Time will tell.

Would not be shocked to say the least if KLM pulls out though cause they aren't doing so hot.

In the end BA might be the only TATL carrier left standing at AUS. Heck even BA is reducing service.

AA is also reducing capacity next year as well.

Not that I want to see us fall back in intensity, but it might give us a short breather to get the accelerated expansion schedule nailed down.

Ohhh, how do you suspect that would help? I'm always trying to be Mr. Brightside, but that scares the crap out of me.

Increasing from 4x to 5x weekly next summer from last I read. Perhaps you were looking for one of the days that they don't fly the route?

According to the “Technology Reddit” Austin has completely collapsed and is officially dead with tech and that we are all broke and done.

I did a random dummy booking leaving 1JUN and returning 14JUN and nonstops were showing.

Plus it would be pretty stark to give a press release of adding frequencies not even 2 months ago and the route be secretly canned.

I know little about the tech world but suspect it's a fat trimming for a lot of those "what the fuck do you do" kind of tech jobs you've heard about here from transplants.

Ah, you're right, thanks.

I did check a few specific dates but it looks like each of them happened to be on days off for the route. Apologies for any confusion, y'all.

Geez, man. They (BA) are reducing a lot of routes for "NW23." The AUS reduction is from Nov 19 - Feb 11. They are also changing the equipment on several routes. It's the slow season. This is normal.

You can only bleed so much for so long before you stop it. You can blame a myriad of things for it.

IF Delta's still considering filling their market gap with AUS, this is the flinch they've been waiting for.

With the second concourse expansion taking so long, and capacity continuing to be a major issue, freeing up the space from these routes could allow Delta to get a better footing in AUS in the long run.

If not, I still don't see this as the doom and gloom some on Airlines.net are making it out to be for us. It's not a good look by any means, but I don't think these routes contributed heavily to our overall growth in the way our recent international grabs have.

BNA, PDX and RDU are all flying markets similar to ours, and we are not seeing them experience a major growth in routes from any legacy carrier at this time.

Hell, this might entice Breeze to take a stab at flying to AUS with our gates less stressed with these cuts.

That might still happen with the western expansion having room for a club if I'm remembering that correctly, and thanks to their current club being so small even prior to their recent growth at peak times.

Would be interesting if someone else swoops in for that space instead like Amex given the intense cutbacks on access with Deltas lounges.
