I never ment to say The SO is uptown........broadway\hilderbrand is definately uptown...but that area has no hospital and only one grocery store...no other stores to really speak of....it needs more support.
Think about it...if you live in uptown or downtown...you still have to drive at least 3 to 5 miles to get more than the basic essentials...An HEB Plus or Super Target is all that you would need. In the SO there are like 2 of each plus a super warmart....actually there are 3 HEBs...1 PLUS and 2 regular..but a new HEB plus is being built on Evans and 281.

What downtown and uptown need in the following:

Downtown:
HEB Plus
Super Target
Whole Foods
Best Buy

Uptown
Super Target or just a regular target...target is better than walmart.
Whole foods

I'm not sure of the address, but it stands one block away from the Holiday Inn in downtown.

It's adjacent to the Holiday Inn, in between that and the old Drury.

Yes, it's a Marriott Courtyard Hotel. It'll be 17 floors tall. I'd estimate its height to be about 190 feet tall or so.

Kevin,

You need to add this building as in contruction phase...its not in the planning phase anymore. I will get some pictures. It is suppose to be like 20 stories. Does anybody know what it is going to look like when it is done? I can not find any info about it on the net.

This sure didn't get a lot of attention if it has started construction. You sure it wasn't that mid-rise off of Floyd Curl that you saw?

Mid rise on Floyd Curl in the Medical Center (Medical Arts Plaza)

It is at least 8 floors already. Is this the 20 story medical tower?

No I think that's the Medical Arts Plaza. It's only supposed to go to 8 or 9 floors, so its pretty much topped out at this point.

Good luck. I heard its going to built as a low or mid-rise now. Same square footage, just not vertical.

Wait until all the construction gets in full swing at BAMC-Ft. Sam Houston.. thats gonna be nuts. They have to keep that whole place operational while they build two huge parking garages, a massive outpatient clinic(separate from BAMC, whole new hospital which they have already broken ground on(Battlefield Health/Trauma), and add a new 6 or 8 story bed tower to the existing BAMC. Biggest construction project this town has ever seen

Check out RTKL's cool Rendering of the new BAMC concept your tax dollars at work:-)

http://www.sammc.amedd.army.mil/sammc_north.asp.

They are also going to build 4-4 story METC (Medical Education Training) 2 of which have been awarded to Zachary as far as I know they are not under const. yet. Also 2-1000 man Barracks which have already been awarded to a general contractor out of Austin,Hensel Phelps, they did the new Samsung chip Fab up there, barracks have not broke ground yet.

I know it's not really tall skyscraper stuff so don't ban me or anything but you gotta admit it's very impressive.

So Cool
J.
