Houston's 2019 population according to the Census was: 2,320,268, up from 2,318,573 in 2018 so we're still years away from hitting 2.5 million.

It may not hit 2.5 million anytime soon, seems like it is close to peaking with only a 2,000 increase in 2019....

The growth has staggered but there's still room for people in the city limits and ETJ. If Houston annexed portions of its ETJ it'd get to 2.5 very quickly.

There is a crazy amount of vacant lots and redevelopment potential in Houston. Houston is nowhere close to hitting its peak.

Houston should use the land it has instead of any further annexations.

It should be noted that 44% of people living in Harris County are Hispanic, lest you mistakenly think all of those 58%-of-the-population white people are eating Wonder Bread.

It has been, just sorta pointing out that the city limt population is kinda cosmetic, more than 2.5 people stay within the periphery of the city limits.
