Only two panes of glass up. They sure love to clad the buildings late in Shanghai

Not bad for a filler tower.

I wish the crown was all transparent glass.
Any chance of that kind of last minute surprise ?

This is pretty interesting. They have removed all of the cladding from the building. I guess they didn't like the salmon coloured marble.

This tower looks to be on hold to me. No changes for months, maybe they have resdesigned that awful coverage...

Shanghai needs "boxy" (or at least more conventional looking) towers, so I have to say I dig this building. Now, it seems the city is mostly about wacky skyscrapers crammed in between old hutongs.

I wonder what's up with the cladding thing.

Strange, but look, I think they are cladding the building corners with that same salmon marble.

That's the Amoco syndrome.
Let's see the new cladding.

Didn't the Shanghai Bank building right next door to this one do the same thing, where the structure sat completed for months while they waited to install the cladding?

I’m back from my huge China trip and of course I also covered all the construction going on there. So I have construction updates for buildings in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xi’an, Hangzhou and Suzhou. It will take a while until I post all of them here, since I took over 13,800 photos during the trip and as you can imagine it takes a while to sort through all of them, but let’s start with Shanghai.

All Shanghai updates were taken between 16th and 21st August

The cladding finally started

I found a recent rendering of this tower on SSC. According to them its called the 'Merryland Building' has 41 floors and will be 200m high.
