Still a really nice project, but that stinks that the tallest building is shrinking.

Previous version.

The other previously shorter building is not out in the water anymore. That was cool, now it is not as cool. Not loving these changes.

As long as something actually gets built there I'm happy. I figured the first renderings were a pipe dream

Forget the height decrease for a moment, I still prefer the first design. But like Larry King said, if the changes allow this to get built, that will be amazing for Camden City, and Camden County.

Go Camden!!

I don't hate it. Still two tall glass buildings on Camden's Waterfront that will most likely be 100% leased by completion given Liberty's history, but what a tease seeing those initial renderings.

Based on the updated plan, there is a pier park on the pier where the curvy skyscraper was moved from . That is actually a very good use.

They have been taking tons of soil samples so my guess is that the design changes are based on the results of those tests.

The DN had another piece on this development this morning. http://www.philly.com/philly/news/ne...and_shops.html

I wonder what happens first- this or Drexel's innovation neighborhood. They both sound good, but I'm skeptical until we see some buildings going up. At least camden has the benefit of huge incentives from NJ.

And some community activists worry the development will exist separately from many of Camden's residents: a neighborhood built for a gentrified population that is isolated from the rest of the city.
Ahh, That's reality folks. Sorry, but majority of Camden is poor, sad but true. New development is going to have to be shiny and attractive. It's going to cost money to have it built and its going to cost more money to own. There is not going to be a wall, so the additional green space and paths it creates is an opportunity for surround neighborhoods to access the waterfront.

The NEW design concept . Am I looking at a 8/10 story building that resembles a
shipping crate , that will replace a 590' tower ??
Wow , what a kick in the nuts .......

Revised Camden Waterfront Master Plan Receives Approval

Quote:
The ambitious $830 million plan to transform Camden's waterfront has been approved by New Jersey's Economic Development Authority—with a number of changes.

There are, however, a few changes to the master plan since its September announcement, including a 22 percent reduction in the overall size of the site. The Courier-Post reports the following updates:

-The site plan dwindled from 37.2 acres to 26 acres.
-1.5 million sq ft of commercial retail space, up from 500,000 square feet
-211 residential units, down from 1,600 homes
-130-room hotel, down from 140 rooms
-4,000 parking spaces
-Total cost is now $830 million, down from $1 billion

The plan also calls for four phases of improvements to the waterfront park, a new ferry stop near the Ben Franklin Bridge, and two new roads.

Now that the plans have been approved, the Inquirer reports that the developers expect to break ground this fall. That's on track with their timeline from last September. According to Liberty Property Trust, they expect occupancy in late 2018 and 2019.
