I like the lowrise office building, the aparement building is fine, and the hotel looks like it will be a hotel. That highrise... that highrise is a monsterous monument to George Norcross's ego.

It is cheap. Foster's original and pretty striking design was heavily value engineered. https://danley.camden.rutgers.edu/20...-christiansen/ Probably was never realistic for Camden at this stage in the first place.

Looks like something built in Tulsa in 1986.

Any idea how this thing is doing with leasing? I know financing was a big issue about a year ago because they didn't have enough companies signed to move in. It's not attractive, I don't want to go so far as to say it's ugly....it's too boring to call ugly - BUT, it gets a huge pass from me because it's Camden, and they need this.

They didn't need this specifically. Development is great, but the state basically paid for it. With so much public money it would have been nice if the public got more than an unwelcoming fortress and loads of patronage for Norcross cronies. Please don't give it a pass, I own property in Camden so I'm very invested in the city's rebound and I'm not giving this stack of shit a pass.

Scanning PhillybyDrone's latest on Flicker, I notice that there is something under construction on the north side of this developement.
Somehow I doubt it will be any of the sexy renderings, but this was suppoed to be the
site of the other tower.

Any one know what this is? BTW, best to click through and bring up the full highrez "original".

Ok, finally went back up the thread.. that is the Hilton Garden Inn, which is up to 6 out of 8 floors now. Not exactly the second highrise from the earlier conceptual renderings.

Well, this highrise is officially COMPLETE

We'll close out this thread, and create a new thread when the next highrise starts to be proposed and planned officially. All of the lowrise/midrise projects can be tracked in the Philadelphia/Camden metro thread here:
