New Views and Renderings of Eliot Spitzer’s ODA-Designed Williamsburg Mega-Development

Set to rise from a three-acre parcel at 416-430 Kent Avenue, between Broadway and South 9th Street, the development is graced with nearly 400 feet of prized East River frontage. Approved permits filed with the Department of Buildings detail that the plan will comprise 857 rental apartments within three 22-story towers. A publicly accessible park and esplanade will run along the shoreline and connect to the the existing esplanade of the Schaefer Landing development to the south.

IDK whats up with real estate related videos that are promotions/info related and lame music. When I see a big development or a skyscraper or a super tall, I want inception music. I've noticed that many of them tend to do this. Miami developers are just as guilty. Showcasing a 50 or 60 story tower.... and they play sub par music! Muting that sound in the video, and putting this on, suddenly makes this project seem epic.

Spitzer Secures $330M Loan for its Willamsburg Waterfront Development

The four-year, interest-only loan is for the ground-up development and the deal closed Thursday, the Commercial Observer reports. Spitzer Enterprises “looks forward to the completion of this architectural icon in the heart of the rapidly ascending South Williamsburg neighborhood,” a spokesperson from Meridian Capital, which negotiated the financing, said in a statement. “Starwood quickly underwrote this significant transaction and immediately demonstrated their vision and creativity as a market leader with this loan.” Spitzer’s loan is nearly twice the size of the $180M in tax-exempt Housing Finance Agency bonds Two Trees Management secured to finance the 522-unit residential tower at its nearby Domino Sugar Factory development. Spitzer’s 2.8-acre project was able to secure a 421-a tax abatement before the program expired in January. It has three buildings with 762k SF total of residential space and about 19k SF of retail. Roughly 20% of its 856 units will be designated as affordable.

Good to see these rising. IMO, the river developments are some of the best in terms of what it is doing to the aesthetics of the city. Sure Manhattan and DoBro are rising even higher, but towers along a river always looks nice.

This development shows that sometimes its good to wait. Took a damn long time. Originally a 2006 proposal, died in the recession, came back to life, and now there is rebar!
