EDMONTON | Delta Hotel and Residences | 192.15 M | 627 FT | 56 FLOORS

DELTA HOTELS AND RESORTS® AS HOTEL PARTNER IN THE EDMONTON ARENA DISTRICT

EDMONTON (Oct. 6, 2014) – The EAD Joint Venture is proud to announce Delta Hotels and Resorts (Delta) as the hotel partner for the Edmonton Arena District (EAD). With a scheduled opening date of early 2018, the new Delta Edmonton hotel will become downtown’s first newly constructed four-star, full-service hotel in three decades.

Designed to match the contemporary architecture and innovative design of the EAD, the impressive tower will exceed 50 storeys in height. The 26 storey hotel tower, with private condos reaching into the skyline, will bring unparalleled luxury to Edmonton’s city centre. The unveiling of Delta as the hotel partner follows closely on the announcements of the City of Edmonton and Stantec tenancies in the EAD, and the unveiling of Edmonton’s tallest tower. With construction of the hotel parkade scheduled to begin in fall 2014 and the main hotel tower to begin in fall 2015, the continued progress of the EAD marks an exciting time for the citizens of Edmonton.

165 would be second tallest in Edmonton and based on the cameras around the stadium this should be starting pretty quick. Going to be a scary change in the skyline given that Stantec is supposed to be starting by the end of the year and the Edmonton City building is already started.

I was in St. Louis when they rebuilt the stadium for the Cardinals and the amount of extra activity Edmonton has lined up is impressive. St. Louis took years after the stadium was completed to get any of the baseball village they were envisioning started.

Now Edmonton just needs to line up a MLB team.

The delta may also go from 55 to 62!

If true, unreal for Edmonton.

That's good news.... Calgary usually gets a proposal and then after a while it gets shortened/downsized!

I've updated the title of the thread and moved it to under construction. I will change the title back to 50 stories if the 62 storey rumour is false.

This building is being designed by Hariri Pontarini, this architect designed One Bloor in Toronto which uses curved glass. Curved glass is visible in the renderings of the Delta Hotel.
