With the way online newspapers are going with their dreaded paywalls, they've pretty much become useless anyway as a means of reading up on stuff. I really do not like paywalls. I'm not going to subscribe for a handful of articles a month that I "might" be interested in reading.
One thing I would like us to do here is to compile a list of architecture and real estate industry focused papers. They'd also be a good way of catching interesting projects happening in other cities, not just in Austin.
The OP referenced current projects at the time and questioned the likelihood of them getting built. Following that line of thought, I think these current projects are in trouble as proposed:
The Avenue
48 East
Hotel Mirabeau
Those would of course be in addition to 99 Trinity and WPP. But something will be built on those sites eventually.

The Avenue is sad -- it's seemingly so close to moving forward.
What’s the delay with The Avenue? I thought that one was on track.
They clearly couldn't get the financing needed to go forward as a residential project, and so far it's been crickets since they switched to a hotel. That list is just my opinion of projects in trouble.

Yeah, but The ATX wrote that post almost 2 years ago. Since then both 48 East and The Avenue have started. The Avenue is doing demolition on site, at least. 48 East, which goes by Natiivo these days, is up several floors now.
I like it, at least parts of it. I think the tower portion is beautiful actually. That facade is intricate and playful. That other part to the east is pretty awful though.
it is a disgusting monument to itself which does zero to blend in or work with its surroundings. the design is utter garbage. let's stop quote replying to the image lol.

Can you imagine how ratchet that would look now, 15 years later, from weather staining on the concrete, rust on the metal balconies, and crud on the glass that would be impossible to actually clean without a rappeling team?
It's like the infamous Trellick Tower but somehow worse.
