Great update, thanks! I'm really liking this tower now. I'm curious / excited to see the "vertical struts" on the facade as well. Also, interested to see how they deal with the exposed sidewall.

Agreed. Although, that being said, I like the dark look of this new build. It makes a. Hange from the usual blue/green glass that is all so common these days.

I finally got to check out the glass on this one yesterday for the first time in person, and it exceeded expectations. Looks like they are just about to top out too. My only gripe is that the building isn't taller. I'd love to see something with the height (and shape?) of the new Hyatt Times Square with this type of cladding... I think it could be spectacular. None the less, thats a good issue to have with this building. On to the photos...

Latest update:

Willow Hotel September 2012 Construction Update

This one is nearly finished. Loving the facade as it rises more, and I believe the hotel is just barely visible from the Park?

Definitely reached its roof. Facade continues rising, and it's looking quite good.

I like the tiny window boxes, as well as the different tone of the building.

I like this building quite a bit. This is what you call "quality filler"

Interesting building, looks like a tall warehouse.

Looks like they're putting the final touches on the facade. For some reason I really like how this tower turned out.

It's an interesting combination of a cut-rate modern box form and high quality traditional details. I wish those thin vertical strips they're putting up were a contrasting color and material though, maybe like the patinated brass they put up on the New School.

This is a perfect façade. Simple, luxurious. Gorgeous.

I think the finishing touch that will make this a textbook example of gorgeous filler will be the furnishing of the interior rooms, considering how much will be visible from the street with these enormous windows. I can just picture the interior glow of the rooms in the evening, highlighting softly billowing curtains and chic decor, with the occasional stylishly-clad hotel guest peering out the window at the street below. Completes another storybook New York moment.

The facade is true to the building's name. It's a worthy replacement of its predecessor.

I wonder how the blank concrete sides will be dealt with?
