I'm thinking that the impression may be slightly different when the Pentominium is completed... taller, and also bigger ?

About the density :
Even though the height of the skyscapers is really impressive, the area seems not nearly as dense as some parts of Lower Manhattan or Hong Kong. The street map, formed by a grid of avenues at right angle, like Midtown Manhattan, reduces the impression of density, as opposed to the chaotic maze of, say, the City of London.
Then again, the area is virtually uninhabited. I wonder what it'll look like in 5 years. Will it be overcrowded ? Will it look like a ghost town ?

Anyway, I'm a big fan.

What are your thoughts, Malec ?
I think even 1/3 full, this area might get clogged with traffic. The area between the princess tower, ocean height, etc, row and the one behind should become a road once more construction is finished, which it looks like will be quite soon. The area behind that then, is supposed to be a mall but who knows if that will get off the ground.

The block is way too far from the metro station.
I'm afraid most people will use their cars.

yeah that is indeed very strange why they chose to put the metro so far away from it but it does hawe shuttle bus inbetween.

and they will hopefully make the Palm island monorail go towards the marina block and then to the metro someday. or make an underground metro for the Marina area

Crazy. It seems like not too long ago when Grosvernor House was the tallest tower in the Marina. Now its twin is almost topped out, and it's been eclipsed probably 20 times over.

There is a Tram service that pass through (around) the Marina, including the big block, and it interconnects with three different Dubai Metro stations (2 of which serving the Marina area) as well as The Palm Monorail.

However, 'no money, no honey' and work is on hold, leaving a mess where it was being carried out.

This development's towers would be bigger than most Downtown areas.

7/8 tall buildings topped by cranes in a very small area. That's exceptional.
When the cranes are replaced with baroque crowns, we'll see if Dubai Marina has reinvented the exuberance of 1930 dowtown NY ... or created an ugly cacophony.

i wonder what the total floorspace is for all of the 20 buildings.

what i am thinking of is in the very small area between infinity tower tamani hotel and sheik al sayed road. pretty much the main block really.

and its 20 skyscrapers all in all if u include all the towers that hawe been built or are rising from 200 meters and up

Sheikh Zayed rd is not that close actually. Neither is the metro station. Best access by car... or by boat

Most are fairly ugly I think but it certainly is impressive as a whole.

Anyway, some fantastic canyon style pictures from 234sale

The sea facing towers

General canyon stuff

I love this one

As you can see, the cladding has started on marina 101

great pictures by 234sale there

yes it is still bad at street level will probably get much better once all the construction work is done.

the big mid street in the tightest cluster has been a storage and parking lot for the construction work, and workers for a long time.

but the walk ways right by the lagoon are very nice
