Great pics! You're officially saskatoon's chief photographer here on SSP. I love the 6th pic so much with the skyline to the south and the tall grass that I made it my desktop. thanks!

I've always wondered, do many people swim in the SouthSask River? It looks like there's a couple of beachy areas, but I don't see any people. Is the current too strong? water still too cold?

I know that swimming never is recommended because of the current but ppl do swim in it. Seems like every summer theres a commercial on tv from fire and protective services warning about the dangers of the river

Well I just got back from a semi-relaxed 2 day canoe trip on the South Saskatchewan(43.7 kilometers of paddling from south of Pike Lake into the city).

There are quite a few beach areas that are frequented during the summer months in the city and surrounding areas, mostly south of the city. The beach areas are exposed or hidden with a decrease or increase of the river level. Currently, the river is above average flow/level and as a result less sandbars or beaches, but still some accessible areas.

On the +30 and up days the river beaches are very enjoyable, just be mindful of the river's strength and dramatic changes in depth level(2 feet turns to 20 feet very quickly!).

thanks, Last time I visited Saskatoon was around 10 years ago So I'm hoping to make the trip some time this summer. I'll have to check out some beaches if I can.

Great pics by the way, its nice to see some different angles of the city/river
