^ Do we have any Skip Elevator experts in here? How is it possible that the cross-bracing "columns" at the bottom of the skip can hold 1500' of skip structure above it? Or are the loads distributed laterally into the adjacent structure?

Elevator skips are supported almost entirely by the parent superstructure.
