I really wish this forum had a like button so I wouldn't have to create a new post to let you know I appreciate your photo.

I am wondering how they are going to do the wall for the third floor on the side of the building where the Esquire Tavern sits without having to put any time of structure on the Esquire.

The floor of the third floor can be poured like all of the other floors, but will just require a little roof protection for Esquire. All of the walls will be filled in later between floors when they do windows, etc.

It’s the 4th floor deck that will be tricky, since that’s the first cantilever over Esquire.

Extra thought added later: eventually when they frame out that third floor wall, I’m sure someone will have to be on the Esquire roof to build and waterproof the outside that wall. As the structure goes up, I think there will be something on top of esquire to support scaffolding going up the west wall.

I guess I am going to have to see it to understand, because the wall I am referring to is part of the wall of the other building. So...it's confusing as to how they will do it. Unless that part of the "exposed wall" will not be used as it is for the first and second floor.

They might build a wall old school with CMUs.

I zoomed in on the web cam and the concrete floor goes right up against the stone wall. Maybe it will be exposed. Maybe they'll put a nice glaze on it and call it a day.

The original plan was to leave as much of that stone exposed as possible, but for various reasons (required fire code separations between buildings, etc) that’s not possible everywhere.

On the third floor, that west side of the building has fitness, bathrooms, etc, so I don’t think there’s any windows on that side. So, either a frame or CMU wall on the Canopy floor, not on top of the existing Esquire wall, with some flashing or waterproofing at the joint where the top of the Esquire parapet meets the adjacent Hotel wall.

Yes! Exactly. Someone else that also read the HDRC report.

Great pic! Yeah, I'm trying to see if they are going to use part of the wall on that floor or none at all. On the lower floors, the wall on that side is completely exposed and part of the design.

Mostly covered up due to required fire separation.

I hope they adjust the webcam upward soon, or add another one with a higher view, because they'll soon be getting to the most interesting part of the construction... the cantilever.

WebCam image on December 19, 2018 at 12:12 PM on the bottom left hand side:

This image speaks loudly of the lack of skyscrapers in San Antonio. NYC in the 1930s had an iconic image of workers hundreds of feet in the air eating their lunch while working on the Empire State building.

We have 4 workers eating lunch on steel at one floor above river level.

It's funny, but it also perhaps provides one of the reasons as to why this project is taking years to finish - not enough workers, especially compared to the Arts and Frost.
