so gratifying to see this site get busier! I saw this one as kind of the linchpin tying all the surrounding development in TransBay and Rincon Hill together, and was thinking it would have been really unfortunate if somehow it got delayed past the current cycle. (side note: sure wish that off-ramp wasn't there - seems to kill a lot of the potential of the retail passageway that is part of this project, as it blocks off the end that leads to downtown)

^If they painted a mural along the offramp it could be a really cool space.

Thank you for finding this thread. I believe this project is now being referred to as 425 1st St and there is now a very exciting (to me anyway) new rendering:

http://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/a...-sfgate-result

According to the source article, local architects are Fougeron who are working with Rem Koolhaas's OMA on the project.

This looks great, and interesting that new SF condo towers are foregoing balconies.

I think giant open windows are more of the thing these days, for the views. Besides who wants a balcony when Karl is blowing winds 50 mph at you? I've been on the one at the top of One Rincon and it's kind of scary honestly.

400 Folsom Street 02/28/2017

I had not been to this area in a long time & was amazed at how much is happening now. Dramatic changes coming to the area.

400 Folsom, San Francisco

Another pour today. Can someone explain why they build those concrete "bathtubs" at the bottom of the foundation? Is it to capture underground water, which is then pumped out? Have seen this at several sites over the years...

Don't know about this building in particular but they are often to allow for elevator pits or sometimes sumps.

^ Correct. That is usually where sump pumps and elevator pits sit, which is directly below the core.

Time to move this to "under construction"?
