Is that called the “Capital Pointe” rule?

Not that it really matters.

^^^ From Sask Crescent.

^^^ Can't get the whole thing in from close up. Right after I took this picture they drilled that entire giant drillbit into the ground in about 5 mins. The hydraulic motor did not even appear to struggle one little bit.

^^^ From under the Victoria Bridge. Once Highpoint and Escala are up there will be a little cluster at the top of the Broadway Bridge.

Yep... Highpoint (which will be behind the green building in this photo) might be approx as tall as the crane, but Escala (where the crane is) is only 7 floors... maybe as tall as the cab on the crane.

June 27 Pics:

The piling rig is gone and there are 4 or 5 hexagonally shaped footings poured.

Was on the Escala website the other day and it appears most, if not all, of the river facing units have been sold! (that includes 2 of the 3 penthouses). As well, 6 of the 10 townhouse options have been sold. I would think they must be pretty happy with the sales response to a building just under construction!

Obviously views towards the city are more important than sunshine from the south?

Funny you should mention that as I have a friend now interested in the Escala but specifically wants a south exposure to maximize natural light coming into the unit. They say the river is right outside their door to enjoy, so not as much a priority to overlook.

Some columns starting to appear. Its hard to tell just what is what but when looking at it in person I get the feeling that the driving space between the stalls will be very narrow.

Not sure what's going on here but they have dug a huge hole, undercutting what appears to be the beginnings of an elevator core (it can be seen in the picture I posted a couple of days ago as well.)

In the foreground is a bunch of rebar and broken up concrete. In the background can be glimpsed drainage pipes and sand getting spread. It looks like they are preparing the ground for the first parking floor.

July 29 Pictures:

^^^ They are extending the foundation along the south wall of the pit. Rebar for two tall columns can be seen.

^^^ It looks like there will be some kind of long narrow storage or mechanical room or something between the rows of parking.

^^^ They have been preparing for the first slab of parking for a while now. Based on what I see, I am guessing there will be two levels of underground parking on the east side of the building (far side in above photo) but only one level on the west side

Aug. 27 Pictures:

^^^ Big pour today. They poured the second level of parking on the SE (i.e., street facing) side of the building. There is only a small amount of underground parking left to pour.

^^^ On the right of the image can be seen the ramp from the alley into the garage. I think the forming to the left of the ramp is for "outdoor" parking accessible right from the alley. I'm not sure if its going to be covered, or have individual garage doors, or what. But it looks like there will be a significant slope down to the alley.

^^^ Another view of the ramp into the garage

Why is the Escala thread still listed as 'Site Prep'? It sure looks like construction is moving along nicely!

See the discussion at the bottom of page 2 and the top of this page in this thread. The trigger for "Under Construction" is when the construction reaches above ground level.

I checked the Escala website and it looks like there are 28/45 units sold. Last time I checked (in March) there were 20/45. So it looks like some progress but who knows how accurate the website is.

^^^ Still a little bit of parking to be poured. The below grade foundation wall is basically complete.

^^^ They are starting to backfill around the foundation.
