Kaohsiung Metro partners with Japanese credit card company JCB for ticket-free travel
The service is set to be available by the end of the year

(Taiwan News) — Kaohsiung Metro has signed an agreement with Japanese credit card company JCB, allowing customers of the payment service to swipe in and out of the metro system ticket-free.
The Kaohsiung City government said to help fulfill its mission of bringing more people into the city, Kaohsiung Metro began partnering with Mastercard, UnionPay and other card-swipe services in January, according to the Info Times. Kaohsiung Metro signed a memorandum of cooperation with JCB today (Friday, April 19), the government said, and will strive for its services to be available by the end of the year.
The government hopes the move can make traveling around the city more convenient for JCB customers.
The memorandum was signed by the JCB International Vice President and Chairman of Kaohsiung Metro Hao Chien-sheng (郝建生) in Tokyo. The occasion marks the first time JCB has partnered with a transportation company.
