That hotel you talked about at the bottom of that PDF file looks beautiful. I'd love to see more of that.

has anyone signed up yet

After reading all of this I have a question...has any hotel company or business signed up for this project or was Ikea named to just grab headlines?

I believe the Hotel is a Hotel Talavera and IKEA wasn't named to grab headlines.

I can't even believe IKEA started this. Yes, it’s an interesting place-more a destination for come reason. IMO it really is not all that special. My sister recently got a dresser there that’s nicer than I expected it to be. I didn’t expect much, but she really got a decent piece for a very good price.

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at, Trae. And furthermore, I can't believe That anyone who maintains their own forum would be trolling in such a way on another one.

Stay on topic please.

With what's going on in the 10/1604 area, I am not scared to say that this area will contain some of the best if not the best shopping in Texas.

Eilan is typical suburban bix box shopping? The Village at the Rim is big box? The Landmark is big box? La Joya is big box? And Cresta Bella will definitely not be big box. The only thing that is big box is The Shops at The Rim.

What stores are at those places.

And I can think of other areas with better shopping. Uptown Houston and Uptown/West Village in Dallas.

Uptown has the Galleria which is a hybrid of regular suburban shopping and upscale shopping. It's nice, convenient, it has indoor ice skating, etc. It's also in one big building. then there are the big box suburban-eque shopping centers that are in the Uptown area as well. Dallas' Uptown/West Village has nice some really exclusive shopping but not much of it. My point wasn't on which area offer the most exclusive or high end options. My comment was on best shopping. I.E. for everyone.

You have The Shops at La Cantera and Eilan providing the high-end and upscale, you have The Rim and The Landmark providing regular and high-end and then you have Cresta Bella. That's nearly 6 million square feet of retail plus the mixed-use aspects of these projects, three of them being urban village type designs.

I only can think of one Best Buy (there are probably more). The strip centers are getting redeveloped into mixed-use centers (BLVD Place, River Oaks District, etc.).

Oops, I forgot La Joya. Depending on how much retail is offered there, we could be looking at nearly 7 million square feet of retail.

This shows the various mixed-use developments happening in the 1604/10 area. Though Cresta Bella has only the commercial portion highlighted.

Maybe someone will get the idea to build an underground transit system to connect not only the mixed-use developments but also the Valero HQ, UTSA, Westin/Gaylord/Whatever and Six Flags.
