There are a few topics I try to stay away from because everyone just gets upset and nothing is gained:
  • Bipole 3
  • Religion
  • Kirk vs Picard

So I'm going to try to steer this in a better direction.

Is anyone else excited for the council meeting tomorrow?
Here is a link to the WFP article they will have a live stream.

Join Free Press urban affairs reporter Bartley Kives at the October meeting of city council, which will vote on Mayor Sam Katz’s plan to offer up 20 free hours of street parking a year and a plan to cost-share the construction of a new rapid-transit station with developer Gem Equities.

Well that was a sad excuse for a questioning period.

Have the EPC ask redundant questions so the majority of the real questions that council members have, can not be asked. Good to hear that Jubilee station was passed.

Does anyone have the plan for Osborne/Corydon at hand for the public to see? Or is that not released yet?

I *think* that's what the meeting was about today; paying $100k for a new plan.

It was. The original plan got scrapped because some businesses/councillors believed that it was hijacked by Gerbasi and a few of the left-leaning Planners from PP&D.

Wow. I've never actually understood what this thread was really about, but I checked the last page today as I sometimes do to try to discern what the bloody point is. And yep. I stumbled upon a debate which has very little to do with skyscrapers.

I'm a pretty outspoken, militant atheist, and have written a few articles on the subject. Even my profile picture (or whatever it's called here) could be interpreted as a jab at theism. But I haven't really found reason yet to marry my adoration of urban planning and architecture with my championing of reason and science. This debate probably shouldn't be held here.

I'm not pointing fingers, because I haven't really read the last billion comments. I just skimmed over them and noticed there was a kinda religious theme, and I once again found cause to question both the point of this thread and the point of philosophical fervor being injected into a website about buildings.

I would appreciate it if somebody could fill me in as to what a western expresso really is, because it sounds like either a really shitty hot drink or a C - grade courier service. I would also like to know how theological debates are relevant to either this ambiguous thread or architecture in general. Thanks.

This is an "off-topic" thread, meant to keep discussions of things that aren't in keeping with the general theme of the forum out of its other threads. Ideally the big debate about whether or not Mississauga is its own city or not should have been held here. This also serves as a place for us to share random things with each other.

The oldest and most successful off-topic thread is Midwest Coffee Talk.

Basically, if the forum is "work", this is the lunch room.

Ah! Thanks, vid.

I can dig it. Oh, and as for the Mississauga thing.... I think we should all remember that whilst it is Toronto's virtual bitch, it could probably still beat up Burnaby.

We should change the name of Point Douglas to Point Douglass so that I won't be misspelling it anymore. Douglas is a weird name. "Reprizentin da P-Dug yo." Whatever.

It was great, but Saturday was problematic, as they had to close the box office in the afternoon, mainly because the show floor was at full capacity, among other things.
