Just try it out once - you never know, you might like the way it feels.....
Except for where I said they were "the largest condo converter in the last boom", are you illiterate or just a troll? I never once said they did new construction but very explicitly described them as the largest condo converter out there. You do the math.

^ I had a feeling it wouldn't take. This new outlook and attitude adjustment are going to take some time and hard work on your part. (it's legal to be a massive condo converter and developer at the same time). Saying that they are a huge condo converter and saying that they have zero ground-up development experience are not the same thing, Copernicus.

Here, let's try again: "thank you for enlightening me, Sam. The next time, I'll think before I type, and thus lessen my chances of spitting-up silly, incoherent bullshit. I appreciate your input."

Take two.

This is a thing, the developer will try to build it. Maybe not the most experienced, or best option but still. Hoteliers are signed, so now we wait. This is a thing.

By the way, the 'Dream Tower' is as the name says, just a Dream... I spoke with the alderman and he says it's not happening. He says that law firms in adjacent office buildings were complaining to their landlord about views of their boardrooms being blocked. I said to him, "so for once then it wasn't you". He chuckled at my comment and said no, this time it wasn't him.

^ I assume he means the Conservatory Tower, rumored to be resurrected as a Dream Hotel.

not a big surprise. most of us thought the resurrection of this tower was solidly in pipe dream territory to begin with.

it looks like we brought this thread back from the dead for no reason. i'll leave it here for a little while to let people get the news, then move it back to the dead projects forum.

sentinel, we should probably get this one removed from the page 1 list of the boom rundown thread too.

Shocked!!

What do you mean - American Invsco couldn't pull this off?!?! But they're America's leading condominium developer (I know so because their advertising clearly stated such)?!! This is so crazy......

And - of course - the reason this is not happening has nothing to do with protests from firms in neighboring office towers.......

Eh not surprising, but do those law firms actually have any real say? They live in a big city, they should expect massive towers to be constructed at any time in the financial district. I'm not sure how air rights etc. work in Chicago but why not just build it anyway? Who cares what they think?

wow, sort of unfortunate, I actually like everything about this project, its design is decent, it puts hundreds of residentials in the loop

I did read it, and I wasn't quoting or responding to your post. BVictor said Alderman claimed the building couldn't be built due to complaints which is kind of ridiculous when you think about it. I'm responding to that post, which you claimed wasn't accurate but didn't give a reason.

I said that tenants talked to landlords. The alderman could have been purely bullshitting me, but the fact that they were even talking about opening in 2017 was pretty much a red flag.

Ouch. That would have been a nice one. I'm sure it's been mentioned, but it reminds me of Citicorp Center in New York. That crown likely would have been amazing at night.

You assumed causality. All BVic stated was that people complained. There isn't a high-rise development anywhere about which nobody is complaining. The 'project' is 99.999% dead as it was 'proposed' by the inexperienced and incompetent.

Should I move this thread? Doesn't seem like a resurrection is ever gonna happen, unfortunately...
