Sad to see all this focus and energy in the burbs when downtown SA has so much interest and untaped potential.

Huh? Downtown is getting its share of attention. River North just one example. Tons of stuff happening downtown. Redevelopment of the Rivercenter Mall, EastTown construction, SoFlo and Southtown booming housing construction/development, etc.

Downtown isn't stagnant.

Is there any update on IKEA's plans? I find it hard to believe they don't have a store in SA already.

Whenever Thomas announces the tenants for The Village at The Rim as well as for the retail in The Rim South is when we'll learn more If IKEA is going in at The Rim it would be in The Rim South.

In case anyone's wondering, The Rim South is the area where all the big red boxes are.

Booming? Why isn't the SA Downtown thread updated as much as this suburban thread?

And was started three months earlier and filled with pointless arguments.

I said the SoFlo and Southtown areas were booming with housing construction and development. There's almost 1,000 residential units planned for SoFlo. Yeah, I'd called that booming for an area that saw maybe 10 residential units every two or three years and prior to that, none. There may be more overall developments in the suburbs compared to the Central Loop but by no means is nothing happening or is it being ignored.

It is mostly little two-three story things from what I have seen. Nothing wrong with that though. River North, to me, is the best project, and hopefully SA gets some highrises from that thing.

Does the height of these projects matter, really? 1,000 residential units is 1,000 residential units whether in two 500 foot high-rises or multiple 3, 4 or 5 story buildings.

It's nice that old warehouses and things are being redeveloped though. It just seems small, even when compared to what Austin has going up in its Downtown.

SoFlo isn't even downtown, it's a formerly industrial area that is not being transformed into a nice urban area a stones throw from downtown. Again,. 1,000 is 1,000 units whether in high rises or mid rises or low rises. You're the one hung up on height.

I think SoFlo is just as much DT as Maverick Park and the San Antonio Museum of Art.

I wouldn't call SoFlo downtown, those two other areas I'd consider downtown because they're linked with downtown in one continuous urban setting while SoFlo is seperated from downtown by Southtown.

Can you guys stick to The Rim in this thread? This isn't about downtown. You guys have been ruining threads lately and I'm getting tired of having to clean them up.
