Kelowna is full of retirees, what do you expect, old people want it quiet and they hate young people. Kelowna is a great city, they just cater too much to the older crowd.
24 looks cool, nice to see Kelowna get something contemporary.

I love the looks of 24. Will be a great addition to Kelowna's growing skyline. Here are some pics I grabbed off the marketing site:

Good job Raggedy! Nice to finally see some pics of K-Town.

It looks like Waterscapes will be the tallest building in BC outside of greater Vancouver which should piss people in Nanaimo off.

I love the look of Skye! And Madison is looking great too, they got rid of the crane, and are nearly there.

Sopa Square's (aka Pandosy3000's) website is up and running with pics...I'd imagine the display centre opens in the next few days.

Looks good.

SOPA looks insanely cool. I really hope it happens. It would change the Mission for the better.

My workplace is giving us the option of moving to Kelowna.

It's quite possible that 5 months from now it'll be my new home for a few years.

The thing that would bring me back to the 'Peg would be rail rapid transit - LRT or subway.

There's some nice looking hi-rises being built in Kelowna I see.

^It would be. I think most people are tired of going downtown all the time to experience a shit nightlife. Pandosy/Lakeshore could help reinvent Kelowna's pitiful pub/bar/club scene.

I wasn't aware of this development proposal called the CD-21 zone:

Quote:
The CD-21 zone is an extensive redevelopment plan for the downtown area bounded by Highway 97, Abbott Street, Water Street and Queensway. It would include parks, sidewalk shops and cafes, as well as several high-rises.

It's nice to see Kelowna finally getting some form of a skyline but to be quite frank, for a metro of 180,000 it's pretty bad.
It would be good to see a large development in downtown but not of the sort they have had. Kelowna's waterfront is more of a resort than anything else. A vibrant community has housing and services for all socio/econ bankgrounds. Kelowna's Waterfront is a haven for strickly the very wealthy, it's almost a pseudo gated community.
I guess this is why I have never been a fan of Kelowna, it's more of a resort than a true urban centre of nearly 200,000. Time-share also have a steller record of raising general housing prices as they take up valuable land in urban cores which inhibits the ability of having a diverse community.
I may ruffle a few feathers here but I think Kelowna is one of the worse planned and unstainable cities in the country were half the population live in $500k homes and the other half live in trailers and never the two shall meet.

Kelowna has what, a dozen or so buildings that are 12 stories or taller? Maybe a few more? That's not bad at all for a young city of 160,000 people. What Kelowna really needs to fill itself out are more midrise buildings. It's got lowrises, it's got highrises, but it doesn't seem to have anything in between.
