It was PCL, top tier before the majors. Plus the name suited us so well. It represented the reason we even existed. Looking over all those pelts at Ft. Edmonton really makes you realize our beginnings. Later oil of course but meat packing was very big too.

Yup. Edmonton once had AAA league baseball to enjoy.

Florida and Arizona would be prime candidates to move over Edmonton. That ain't happening.

LOVED Trappers games. The star power that came through Edmonton too was amazing.

Miss those days.

But FL and AZ are in the southern US. Bettmans ice hockey destinations. I know Oilers will stay. Just thinking of a private owners aim in life. Collecting $ and the amazing value now. Just making conversation albeit unrealistic. Hopefully.

There's a report out there that Florida isn't paying their players...

Bettman needs to swallow his pride. The Panthers franchise hasn't worked for years and won't work.

Yes, then the league could re-configure into 8 divs of 4 teams each (like the NFL) and we could have all-Canadian divisions in the east & west.

Intriguing but one big drawback to that is the west division would span 3 time zones which is not good for television.

The running of the 91st Canadian Derby is today.

Typically in August and one of my favourite days of the year. Dressing up with friends, mint juleps and some betting.

Will talk to the press this morning (sorry I don't know where it can be watched live). I really hope when asked what changed he sticks to a script and just says new GM, new coach, and that he's matured and sees things differently now.

A hockey buddy thinks that this was to package him with Koskinen.

perhaps... although it's hard to see what would come back that would be an actual upgrade and not just different.
