Can anyone think of any good reason for why they've picked NOW to hose down and scrub the smoked-glass windows that surround BC Place? 'cause that's what they're doing this AM...
Yeah, Ravman and the Brothers and Sisters working there have finally succumbed to management negotiations and allowed the place to get cleaned-up in time for the Olympics...er...
They're spending half a billion on renos, and they're keeping the 80's glass?
It's a big part of the reason that the stadium looks so cold and outdated, I'm really disappointed that they're not replacing it.
I'm certain there is going to be a huge push by football and soccer fans to keep the temporary stadium after they experience some summer nights outdoors in a cozy, festive little environment - the exact opposite of BC Place.
Even after the new roof you'll have several thousand empty seats for football games.
It's going to be fun to watch the prov. gov't sweat over this one!
It's a rickety temporary scaffolding with port-a-potties on one side and trailer-park washrooms on the other - totally unsuitable as a permanent structure, and this will be obvious by the end of the first game.

I find it hard to believe that they're going to keep the glass that goes all the way around the stadium. If they're spending millions on a project like this, why not upgrade that part of the stadium just as well? I don't get it
^well, technically, while it's an air supported roof, it IS load bearing glass!
Why would they need to have "load-bearing glass" when the majority of the building is made from concrete?
isn't "the glass that goes all the way around the stadium" actually angled at 45 degrees? I always remembered that as the skylight of the concourse of the 2nd tier seating, and the tinted glass provided extra daylight into the building (not the field).
