its proportions will look much different once the glass is installed between the concrete building and the roof line at the height of the circular metal truss ring

Photo update | December 1st 2010

Taken by SFUVancouver, December 1st, 2010.

This view from Beatty Street near Robson might well be my favourite. The new stadium masts and cabling appear to be impossibly tall and encompassing; they fill the sky.

Okay, maybe I've been watching too much "The Walking Dead" and other zombie shows but the podia at the top of each masts, though I know are temporary, would be the perfect sniper position to take out any zombie army should the zombie outbreak occur. Haha.

Snow Storm causes our former stadium twin, the Minneapolis MetroDome to collapse.

As some news articles said, this is bound to happen. This winter is going to be fierce.

The following news article at The New York Times allows you to switch the picture frame to a summer time picture and one after the roof deflated. Nice.

Wow, I'm surprised it would collapse. I know Minnesota got absolutely *hammered* with snow, 17.1" is quite a bit lol

Here's a pretty awesome video of inside as it happens

With volumes of snow that high there is no way the snow melt system could keep up. Pooling would have started in the corners of the panels. The weight then pulls down the panels allowing more room to trap water and snow. The cycle repeats till the weight of the roof can not be supported by the air pressure and it all comes down.

Hindsight is 20/20. What would you assume needed doing? I know what I would have done......

Wow, amazing video. Good that no one got hurt. Looks like it was a lot worse compared to what happened to BC Place. This is not the first time this happened to Metrodome roof. May be they should consider replacing it.

I think that this is just part of a larger plot by that biggest Viking fan of all--God--to give the politicos in MN a bit more incentive to build the Vikes a new stadium, as the owners have requested.

A storm in the upper midwestern United States has generated enough snow to cause the inflatable roof of the Minneapolis Metrodome to collapse.

The Minnesota Vikings' Sunday NFL football game against the New York Giants had already been pushed to Monday because the Minneapolis airport is closed.

After the collapse, the game's venue was moved to Detroit's Ford Field. Metrodome officials told the league the roof wouldn't be ready in time to play Monday or Tuesday.

The dome suffered damage to two of its triangle-shaped Teflon panels, said Bill Lester, executive director of the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission that operates the stadium.

If God is Canucks fan, it means Scientology is the right religion

Anyways. I wouldn't be surprised if this accident causes the Vikings to receive their brand new toy. A new stadium for their NFL team.
