Great pictures! I especially like the last one with downtown in the distance. But man, that is some toxic looking neon green water.

Yes. Not sure what was up with the water. Something was off for the fountains to be making that much foam.

My mom is an HOA president for a neighborhood up in the Dallas area, and told me that they actually dye the color of the neighborhood pond. Maybe that's the case here?

Pretty crazy that Muller is almost done. The only residential part they have left is the section inside Manor, Zach Scott and Tillery. AISD will probably start soon on the middle school and then you just have Aldrich Street development.

I once mentioned that the Millenium would have looked better here. I retract that statement. It would have over powered Mueller as much as it underwhelms downtown. But these structures with the different colors and textures and just 4 floors are perfect. I am a huge fan of brownstones that I would love to see incorporated here somehow though, even if they are a modern version of the ones I really like in Boston and Brooklyn. They add so much character just by being so understated.

Do you mean like these, or do they literally need to be made of sandstone or brick?

OK, you are not likely going to see that, unfortunately. We just don't build houses that way anymore. These are all frame buildings with cladding of some kind. As much as I agree it would be nice, it is hard to justify cladding with brick all around. There are a few more with some brick or stone, but none that are all brick that I can think of.

This one on the corner may be closest:

There are some examples in east austin of rowhouses/townhomes with lots of brick.

This one on Juniper street, although the backsides of these buildings look AWFUL. It isn't even stucco - it's some kind of hardie panel that's trying to imitate stucco - you can see a bit of the paneling on the top of these buildings below the gables.

Similar project by South Shore/Riverside

This really weird project being built on Lydia. I'm not even sure where the front door is for this place.

Cool. I was kind of hoping the Thinkery would use that lot for an expansion, but I guess a hotel is an acceptable secondary use.

I'm interested who will operate it, and whether it will fall under a particular brand umbrella, or if it'll just be on its own. Honestly, it looks a lot like the Millenial-focused "boutique" stuff that either Hilton or Marriott are churning out these days, so wouldn't be surprised if it with either one.

EDIT: well, my mistake. Origin is actually the name of the (mini) brand itself. https://originhotel.com/

Always thought it was weird that that spot was empty.

It was supposed to be Austin Playhouse, but they were not able to raise enough funds to move forward.

If anybody can help me post the images here, I will caption them
Here are the steps to do it! https://i.imgur.com/gfVugRr.mp4

Might want to make it full-screen if it's too small.

Thanks Syndic! That seems like an awful lot of work. There isn't any way to batch upload? I'll give it a whirl.
