Good timing. The snow and ice mess we have will be melted by then.

62 stories! Sweet. That would put this proposal in the 700'-800' range (more than likely).

Some nearby comps...
-98 Red River proposal: mixed use and 74/1030' (floor-to-floor Height = 13.92')
-80 Rainey proposal: mixed use and 64/802' (floor-to-floor Height = 12.53')
-90 Rainey proposal: residential and 51/602' (floor-to-floor Height = 11.80')
-The Travis proposal: residential and 52/594' (floor-to-floor Height = 11.42')
-44 East: residential and 49/573' (floor-to-floor Height = 11.69')
-River Street proposal: residential and 48/572' (floor-to-floor Height = 11.92')

Considering this is the same developer as 44 East - and they may use the same architect - I might narrow the height to between 725' and 775'.

Holy crap. That thing is double the floor count of the Marriott. Huge!

Also really glad to see a hotel component making a comeback as part of the mix.

Here's a permit from February that indicates the trees on the site will remain and only the house will be demo'ed.

Also jumped up 9 floors from the last filing (originally 53, now 62). That's an interesting change.

Maybe that was due to specifics about the hotel portion being decided?

Or, you could have said, ‘No, that starts on the next block to the north.’

Thanks for the info.

Maybe. The city’s info doesn’t specify how much of the northern half of the block the building will use.

Just walked by on my lunch break . . . and the lot they're referring to is kinda weird. Aside from the house itself, there's nothing but a dirt parking lot, and a lot of what looks like scrub foliage surrounding it. There might be one tree worth saving on the lot, but the rest look pretty incidental.

If they're not going to clear those out, I wonder how they'll incorporate them into the design?

EDIT: also, this thing is going to be HUGE. The Marriott itself is pretty imposing -- I can't believe this is going to roughly double the height.

The first demo permit to clear the site was filed today. It's for the middle of the block. There is a 78 page attachment about the demo. Apparently the house and the restaurant building have asbestos building materials which requires A LOT of documentation.

Intracorp is moving the house on the site to a park in E. Austin. Here's a nice nine page presentation for the HLC meeting today:

From the presentation (no tower renderings):

Geez. This project is moving pretty quickly. Hopefully we'll get more info on it soon.
