^ whoops. Yeah, bid docs, not CD's, that's what I meant

Still 8 billion times more accurate than anything reported by a "media outlet".

^Yes, the info is solid... and I did not mean to nitpick, just wanted to tie the info to a set of design documents for future reference. It may still change again before construction, that is how these things tend to develop. And you are correct, media outlets work off press releases. We are looking at current design documents.

Beautiful tower that will fit in perfectly with the Chicago skyline.

The debates on this website are head-scratching at times.

Other than WPS (where Salesforce Tower is now planned) which never had an announced height but was zoned to go taller with one earlier iteration showing a building maybe 50 feet taller than what is now proposed, what other "bunch of towers" are you referring to?

Not Bank of America Tower - got a 45 foot increase. Not NEMA, Vista, WPE, OBP, Essex...

All I can think of is Equinox and 900 West Randolph - with both still pushing the height envelope west of the Kennedy in a non-traditional high-rise area and both likely having been proposed at the outer limits for height in anticipation of NIMBY resistance.

Honestly this 'height fear mongering' is a bit exaggerated.

Whether or not this is just under 1000 ft or just over 1000 ft ist mir völlig egal.

Indeed.

It can be easy to get wrapped up in the slight changes in height and overreact one way or the other, but as you pointed out, these towers will be gigantic, and there's nothing that will change that fact. Debating over it ad nauseum can just be unhealthy at a certain point.

All i want for Christmas is a January start for OCS.

And a nice bottle of peaty scotch.

Is that too much to ask?

There's no reason to think it won't, at least not yet.

if OCS and at least one of the supertalls in the pipeline gets started this year I would be very happy.

Add in 1000M too and this will be the greatest cycle in the city's history, I think without debate.

Definitely in the top 3. Last cycle was good but I think Sears, AON and JHC getting built was probably the best. They basically define Chicago.

Enjoying a post work Laphroaig 10 as we speak. Also throw in 725 W Randolph which has been rumored to break ground in January...

Yes. Of course when adjusted for inflation... Sears, Standard Oil and Hancock were the 1st, 5th and 6th tallest buildings in the world at the time

IMO OCS is going to have the biggest impact of any building this cycle to its surrounding area. Its gonna be boom town over there!

Hancock was the second tallest when completed in 1969 beaten only by ESBs bullshit spire as per usual...

Huh? The Empire State has a higher roof/occupied height than the John Hancock Center

Right, if only that could happen today it'd be insanity.
