Excuse the poor image quality but this is a view of the crane from K2. I did my best to follow the great advice from Nick but this beautiful Chicago day was a bit too much for the ole' iphone to handle.

^I know that's a heavily engineered piece of structural gold, likely costing at least $25,000 to fabricate, and I wouldn't wish ill will on any steel company, but I would love to see the cables snap and that thing plummet to the river below, and the ensuing splash. What would it even look like? My brain can't comprehend.

Totally meaningless conversation, but fun to imagine.

Anyone know whos doing the steel fabrication? Ik Zalk Josephs Fabricators did 150 Riverside, are they doing this one too? I did see a bin that said Cives on it and Cives Steel is also another big steel fabricator.

Wooooooooooooo. Thank you! Much appreciated. Been stalking this forum for a while waiting to post.

I also have an amateur question. As the building grows in height and cement is poured in the core, how does the wood and steel (?) framing raise? Is it hydraulic where once the cement has dried the workers press a button and push it up? Or is it something else?

I see River Point and 150N Riverside every day of my life, and they feel enormous. The fact that this tower and WPS will be bigger/taller towers is absurd. I feel bad for our friend who just posted that picture of the site across the street though... he's gonna be losing that wonderful river view :/

^Agreed. I was downtown this weekend and I'm still impressed how tall 330 N. LaSalle is. WPS and 110N will be bigger than both. Amazing that we are getting both so close to each other.

Too bad these beautiful trio of tridents have to be covered by tubes to never be seen again. Put a glass box around them and light them up so their true raw strength can be admired by all I say!

I wish aluminum was as strong and ductile as steel. Then they could just be anodized.

Ha, I was expecting this to be sarcasm but I actually really enjoyed it. The animation is done really well and clearly diligently with varying angles
