Possible impact of coronavirus on US and Canadian cities

I've been watching YouTube video from Wuhan and find myself speculating about how US and Canadian cities might deal with a similar situation in the event of a global pandemic. I am not known for my optimism, and I can find little reason to be hopeful that we are prepared to deal with the social and economic fallout that would result from our cities being shut down in quarantine mode. This may not be the right place to create this thread (mods feel free to move it), but I thought a discussion might prove interesting.

Looks like there is already a coronavirus thread in Current Events. Mods, shut me down.
