I don't mind that all the north face isn't all glass, my problem is that section isn't detailed at all-----and the rest of the building is so nicely and deliberately designed. As is its like the building is giving the bird to the north. And in some ways parts of the north face, from top to bottom, or more visible then the other 3 faces of the building. But, nothing except the desire and the money to do something is stopping a change to be made in the future.

Did they run out of grey paint? I'm normally not a fan of this but, I think matte black would be pretty cool here.

They've had that one section painted since before winter of last year...I don't know what the hold up is. Maybe they are planning on switching it up? I agree that matte black would look good, or a very dark grey.

I really like the term "north face" that's been used repeatedly in this thread. So much so that I'm going to start referring to a part of my anatomy as "the North Face."

Watch out, The North Face® (clothing maker) is very sensitive about people co-opting their registered trademark.

Philly is weird in that IMO just about every highrise/supertall looks far better from the east/west faces, and far worse from the north/south faces. CC1 and CTC are the biggest offenders, but also BAT- while my favorite building - looks best from E/W.

I do like the W south face, though like every other highrise in Philly it suffers from being disproportionately wide due to the weird lot sizes. The north face (so far) kinda stinks, though at least most of it is obfuscated by RATR.

I’ve thought the same thing. You can include the PSFS building in the list of buildings with either a north/south ugly face. Come to think of it, also a couple of mid rises in Old City too. I’m plenty of others.

^ Reminds me of some of the older "tall" buildings in South Bend, Indiana. I was amazed how many decent facades would cover two or three sides of buildings -- but the "back" sides were plain brick, despite being perfectly visible from the street, due to lower neighboring buildings (even before most of the downtown was reduced to surface parking).
