First few photos are taken around the old I195 area (Providence moved this freeway south so it wouldn’t divide the downtown. Hopefully 10 years from now this will be all mixed use! Started at Weybosset went to Kennedy Plaza then a little around the river to College Hill and up! Beautiful day! Final few photos are taken when I walked down through Brown University.
Heading Downtown-quick lunch at UMelt!!! Great Grill Cheese (had the White Trash!).
Walk through Brown University back towards downtown

Wow, wow, wow!!! Beautiful homage to such a great city. This thread brought back so many great memories--I lived in Rhode Island 2002 - 2004 for High School partially, and I always was fond of Providence. The downtown area looks vastly improved and developed, hope the momentum keeps up.

These beautiful pics solidify why that in the US, we need to continue to invest back in our core cities. That's how a city and metropolitan area will reach its full potential. One can see all the potential that a city has. Make use of the best architectural buildings with good restaurants & retail. Increase the housing stock by building new & converting old office buildings & warehouses to residential. Get people walking the streets, patronizing the businesses, connecting with people again. We've sort of lost our way with that the past 50+ yrs. it seems to me. Providence certainly is on the right path to become a major mecca for residents and tourists alike. Keep it up, Providence!
