good! the original proposal did seem too short.

although I think it would look better if the top of the tower pointed the other way, to the north. I feel that towers with angled roofs like this should have them pointing away from the main mass of the skyline.

BREAKING NEWS!

Yet another 200+ metre tower proposed for Toronto:

Quote:
2263 YONGE ST
OPA / Rezoning 11 326074 STE 22 OZ Ward 22
- Tor & E.York Dec 14, 2011 --- --- --- ---
Rezoning application to permit the redevelopment of the lands for the purposes of a new mixed use building comprised of two residential towers 64 stories and 44 stories in height respectively connected by a 3 storey podium containing retail and office uses. Included in the proposal is the demolition and replacement of 30 existing rental dwelling units secured through a related Residential Demolition Control Application. Proposal will contain 1166 dwelling units complete with 371 parking spaces located in a below grade parking facility, 95 of which would be provided for retail and office purposes.

2263 YONGE ST
Rental Housing Demolition & Conversion 11 326114 STE 22 RH Ward 22
- Tor & E.York Dec 14, 2011 --- --- --- ---
Rental Housing and Demolition Control Application for the demolition and replacement of 30 rental dwelling units. Proposal is to replace the 30 units in the redevelopment of the lands proposed under related application 11-326074
64 storeys should easily top 200 metres, however given that this is Yonge & Eglinton, the developers will surely have a height fight on their hands. Otherwise... the beat goes on.

And the ball just keeps rolling. I expect this one to be a few years off just due to the rigorous approvals process this thing is likely to see, still would be nice to throw up a few 60s towers at Y&E, really solidify it as a skyline in its own right.

Sorry, I'm not really sure where I should be posting in this forum. I'll get the hang of it.

No longer 28 floors, it will now be 44 floors.

that's totally awesome! but there have been so many plans for this site over the years it's to the point now where I'll have to "see it to believe it!"

I'm curious why the people who make these renders use such old aerial photos. Shangri-La was still a hole in the ground and the FCP re-clad had just begun. There are literally thousands of recent pix they could have used...

because shangri la would be blocking the view in that pic.. and because these renders were probably made several months ago and are only being made public now.

Pretty sure that the design and rendering of both 28 storey and 44 storey versions were made well back when that image was up to date.

.

I'll start a list in this post of all the potential 200 meter towers not on the list.

1. Eau de Soilel - 65 Floors
2. Yorkville Parking Deck - 2 Towers 55 Floors/45 Floors
3. 60 Harbour - 2 Towers potentially
4. 2263 Yonge Street - 64 floors
5. 100 Adelaide - 44 floors

So we are now at 29

Just 11 to go!!!

There is a rumored twin tower development for the Holt's site.

If we were to include those two towers we are sitting at 31, with just 9 more proposals to get us to 40 towers at 200 meters.

If we include the rumored Synergy Development, that takes us to 32 towers, just need 8 more to hit 40 towers over the 200 meter mark.

There is an outside chance the Canada Tower now proposed at 54 floors over the 52 floor original at 188 meters could break the 200 meter mark in its revamped state.

It's next to impossible for the Canada Tower site to support anything taller. The rest are just rumours. There are plenty of those around to push you towards 80.

.... with crappy tired looking buildings that barely pass as architecture.

More hints being dropped, that something big is coming to the Cumberland Terrace site.
