I dunno, you'd think that if Vidorra II was a go, something would've happened by now. . .

I wonder why they build the Vidorra where they did on the other side of I37 north of the Alamodome. Is that area going to be the new Uptown of San Antonio?

Just like the east side of 35 in Austin...its in the beginning phases of a "rebirth". Vidorra II should begin construction within the next year....the plan the entire time was that once Vidorra I was 80% sold, Vidorra II would begin construction....I would imagine they are comin up to that 80 pretty quick here.

Welcome to the Forum! I've only been here about a month (though I've been lurking for a lot longer). Its a great place to learn about and discuss skyscrapers and urban development.

The image must be in the form of a url, and can't be directly uploaded from your computer. Try www.imageshack.us to upload the picture onto their server, then copy and paste the image's url from Image Shack into the image button on here.

I like how the antennas are the tallest structures in our downtown.

Actually, the towers that are downtown are about 600 feet tall. If you go up in the Tower of the Americas, you're just about level with their tops.

Go to the FCC's website below, you can search for tv and radio towers with the advanced search form. The site lists their heights and locations. The heights are in meters, so you have to convert them.
http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/AsrS...tionSearch.jsp

Going by that, the tallest tv or radio tower inside San Antonio's city limits is 968.83 feet tall. There probably are taller tv and radio towers, but they might be outside of San Antonio's city limits.

I don't think so. The main studios still need to send the signal to their larger towers outside of town. I think for SA, that would be around Elmendorf. Those larger towers should already have the components installed to broadcast the HDTV signal so it should be relatively seamless when the transition occurs.

Nah, those towers won't be removed. They'll just have new transmitters added. At least one or two of Austin's tv stations already broadcasts in HD and they've already got HD transmitters on their towers. I seem to remember a note about HD tv on one of the tower's page.

here's some interesting info about the "River North" development. I don't know how much of this will come to be now that the city has taken over, but it's still interesting.

^^^ Come on dude, just because San Antonio doesn't have 700'+ buildings doesn't mean it's lame. There are many cities w/ 700'+ buildings in this country that would love to have the vibrancy and life that SA's downtown has, heck there's even cities in this state that would. Your user name, in all honesty, is ridiculous.
