So do I.
The selection process was probably flawed. I bet the name of the british starchitect was enough to sell the project.

Madrid is lucky to get 4 great additions to the skyline at once!

Some good looking towers there. The massing and design somehow reminds me of the new WTC, maybe because of a somewhat similar height relationship between individual towers and differences in design that work out well as a group.

It's so clean. It's like skyscrapers in nature.

Skyscrapers in a park make pretty pictures. But I'm not sure that they function well in reality.

Clean!?! HA! I wish it were clean. I was in Spain for a year and I can tell you if there was a panned down shot of that field you would see a piece of trash every 5 feet. Spaniards don't know what a garbage can is, sadly.

Franco Rey, you dont know what your talking about. Have you even been to Madrid? They have nocturnal cleaning squads that do a very good job, so I dont know what your on about.

They should remove your message king franco

Was I talking about the cities? No. I was talking about the FIELD. They do NOT clean fields everyday. Yes, they do clean the sidewalks and streets very well...because if they didn't all the streets would be covered with the cigarette butts and shit that Spaniards nonchalantly throw on the ground. Have you ever stepped on the dog shit they leave? You are in constant fear of a smelly surprise. Unfortunately I seemed to have started a heated debate about the cleanliness of Spain...next time you're there take a walk in a random field...your eyes may melt in horror!

On another note...does anyone find it odd that the Repsol Tower seems to look like a giant magnet? Or a high tech shaver? I can't put my finger on it, but it just doesn't seem to fit in with the other three towers. I like it, but it seems out of place.

it's just Moscow and Madrid that are construction big projects in Europe today. Hope this trend wil be spread to the rest of Europe too.
Don't forget the massive projects planned in London, and also La Défense in Paris. Even so, I hope for more skyscraper development in Europe too. Cities like Rome, Athens, Barcelona, etc. could use a boost, and developers need to pay more attention to Eastern European cities, which are on the rise since joining the European Union.

This link has all the available data on the Repsol Tower:

http://urbanity.blogsome.com/2005/10...-info-oficial/

Sumarizing its key figures:

Total height: 250m

Total surface of tower above ground: 71.647,10 m2

Total surface of tower including underground parking: 107.966,10 m2

49 floors above ground level of which 34 are for office use (3 blocks of 11,12,11 floors)

19 elevators (some of which are on the outside of the tower, giving a heck of a view)

The repsol tower cost 300M Euro, the cheapest of them all

(The most expensive is the espacio tower at 390ME (500M$))

yes, Repsol Tower is horribly out of place with the other towers being built around it, as well as the ones that currently exist near it. as already stated...i thought this period of architecture was officially dead? hahah it's HORRIBLE

the other towers look great, and the project is coming along nicely. thanks for the updated pics
