Decent little proposal. Good opportunities for amenities with the retail component

Aqua Resorts Ltd

So I went down to have a look at the Cook Road boat launch this morning, both to see the dredging activity and see for myself if it was closed or not as my wife had proclaimed it to be, and while there, I saw that demolition had begun on homes immediately south of the boat launch where Aqua is planning their 3 tower development. I hadn’t seen anywhere that this had actually been approved yet but based on the security fencing and already completed demolition, it would appear that they are moving ahead.

^ That will be quite something if they get that project off the ground. There are few actual resorts in the area and places Lake Okanagan resort, while still decent are getting old.

Hopefully the floors will go up as quickly as with Ella! It will be nice to finally see it come up behind prospera & the law courts.

I believe this is a rendering of the newly approved Richter street development.

Also, another mixed-use development is proposed right behind Metro Liquor on Clement.

Some pretty big news for Kelowna on the business front:

International software company opens North American headquarters in Kelowna
IPMC Smart Technologies celebrated the grand opening of its new Landmark Centre office on May 8

An international tech company opened the doors of its North American headquarters at Landmark Centre in Kelowna this week.

IPMC, which stands for Intercom Programming Manufacturing Company, is a software company that started in West Africa 27 years ago.

It has expanded to now eight countries, with over 750 employees, 30,000 users in 25 countries, and $40 billion USD running through its software annually.
...

Dhillon said IPMC plans to expand its North America operations to Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and the U.S.

“All those revenues will be reported here in Kelowna, so the City of Kelowna will benefit,” he said.

I walked passed Brooklyn on Bernard. They are all done driving the piles. I asked one of the workers what was next and he said they are doing utilities then they will do the foundation. I’m guessing it will go up fast like Ella.

Inn glad a BC interior city is doing so well with growth and construction.
It is Castlegar's unofficial team captain. And nationally and internationally it's Vancouver.

Since Kelowna is on a bit of a building boom, it made me wonder if there was any spillover to Penticton or Vernon as nearby cities in the Okanagan. There was no link on the BC/AB section specific to either city but a quick Google search found an article from last summer for a new 15 story tower in Penticton adjacent to the Lakeside Resort (actually 18stories according to the article)

http://www.kelownadailycourier.ca/bu...188dbb539.html

I think it’s important that both bookend cities on Okanagan Lake also continue to grow and thrive to improve the quality of life for all who call this valley home. Hopefully more development will come to both Penticton and Vernon while Kelowna sees the vast majority of construction.

I think Vernon is growing at a decent clip. You can live in Vernon, and work in Kelowna (especially if you're commuting to the airport or UBCO for work) without too much hassle..

There may be two towers or even three on that development in Pentiction. The tower under construction is quite nice looking. I pass through every couple of weeks, I'll make sure to take some pictures next time.

Yeah Vernon has done pretty well these past few years. A number of new commercial developments and office buildings have gone up, real estate is expensive and businesses keep moving to the area.

I commuted from Vernon to UBCO for the last two years I went there and it wasn't too bad, and that was long before the Wood lake bypass was built. I did lot of studying on the drive by recording my notes onto cassette tapes and listening to them while I drove.

These pictures do not show a whole lot but worth sharing all the same:

The new hotel out by the airport.

This is a developent at UBCO, not exactly sure what it is as I didn't have time to look into it yet.

Another development at the UBCO Campus, couldn't get too close to this one so not sure what it is either!
