What's the deal with all those white framed pieces of cladding? It ruins the look for me.

This tower seems like it's been under construction longer than any tower in NYC.

That's because it has been! It isn't an illusion, this thing has been a nightmare on the construction/contractor side.

i can't imagine how complicated the jenga sections must be. also, they dont seem to have the largest workforce on it as compared to some other developments.

Foundation work started in 2008 but there was a delay, and it picked up again in 2012. But yes, its been ages. Its a pretty complex design.

I was really excited to see this thing go up, but that white framing on the facade has killed the enthusiasm. Ugh...

From the Indigo Hotel LES on Tuesday, March 29. Quality's not the best as I'm zooming in with an iPhone, but the building looks pretty good from this vantage point. 99 Church and 175 Greenwich make pretty good cameos here as well.

^ Nice, that is a good angle. Both 56 Leonard and 30 Park Place look much better when viewed at an angle rather than head on.

Agree with you and the others on the white framing. The way they executed that looks bad. I also liked the greyer glass of the renders. This is one where the renders looked much better even though the jenga element turned out pretty well. Still a pretty cool building, though.
