Thanks for the pics oldman, I wish there was a rendering of the drury somewhere, it looks kind of awkward and I can't get a good idea of what it will look like when finished.

The only rendering I've seen is on a sign at the entrance to the construction site, but you have to use the access road to see it because it isnt visible from the freeway.

Yes I saw that sign when the construction first began, but it looks like a picture of the Drury at I-10 and Wurzbach. I can't see this hotel looking like that but maybe I'm wrong.

on those Broadway pics. They need to get rid of those power lines along Broadway, though. Those things are going to look horrendous in front of a 20-story glass condo tower.

I do not think they will. That is why you would want to live up in the 15 floor or higher...

They need to get rid of all the power lines up broadway...if they want to put lots of highrise up along broadway...

I have not seen much about Piazza San Lorenzo recently. Does anyone know anything? The office is still open and they have a completion date for spring 2010, but I have not been able to find a start date anywhere.

If they started this Fall they could maybe reach that date, but date is wasting away.

This is the commercial leasing opportunities document. It is from October 2007 so it is not that old. There is some interesting information in it.

I sure hope something happens soon. Looking at that lot on Googlemaps street view is kinda

I remember it seemed like a ridiculous wait for the Vidorra to get get going, to the point that it seemed almost certain the project was dead. And now its shot up amazingly fast. So, hopefully our patience will be rewarded. I'm sure this project will be worth it

EDIT: Reading through that literature that you linked to, I'm wondering if they're having trouble getting all the necessary demolition permits. In light of the recent demolition controversies, that may partially explain the holdup.

^^^Just imagine if all the construction north of 1604 was happening downtown

Speaking of which, it'd be great to get some updates on the Embassy Suites. I'd do it, but I'm in Kansas City

It is going to be a tight fit for two hotels, two restaurants,
and 3 office buildings (600,000 sq.ft) on 21.5 acres.
Also think about all of the parking that is going to be needed.
I am guessing that the office buildings would be about 5 to 7 levels a piece.

A few days ago I went to the new Texas Road House restaurant along south 281 just south of 1604 near Hill Country Village, and I noticed a sign next to the empty parcel adjacent to the restaurant. The sign was a rendering of a Four Points Sheraton Hotel. It appeared to be about 4 to 6 stories. This hotel will most likely be visible from the highway 281.

By the way........the food was good.

Nothing at the Rivercenter although yesterday was the final day Dillards was open.
The framing of the Walgreens is up, a two-story steel square is up.
The Neisner building is gutted out. Haven't seen much activity since the first weekend when the news came out.
No activity at the Texas Building.
No other work on the Embassy although the digging is getting cleaned up around the edges; maybe the restaraunt will be located a little below street level (only half of the lot is dug out.)
No change at Piazza San Lorenzo although I did see somewhere on some meeting notes or request for permit that the signage on the front of the Book bldg was to be changed or maybe it was for renovation of the face of the building.
The new Marriott adds nicely to the skyline when on St. Mary's/Travis looking South towards the Tower life building.
No visible (new) work on the 1221 Broadway lofts, although I did see crews cleaning up behind the main structure. Maybe they were replacing old plumbing for the new layouts and changes?
The building at 10th/Alamo is being swept away slowly.
I believe the Vidorra is now "sealed", and we should see stucco go up soon.
Framing on the townhomes is underway.
Nothing new on 1800 Broadway.
The Broadway should see the 4th floor being poured on soon.
Quarry Village is shaping up nicely, West Elm and Smith and Hawken are set to open in October, most of the stone is up; stucco is up and just needs to be painted.
