The reversal of flow of the Chicago River was completed in 1900. Oddly enough it's kind of easy to forget that date, but I just remind myself that the more complicated, malaria-ridden Panama Canal project needed another decade and a half (and a scientific discovery of the link between mosquitoes and sickness) before it was opened, in 1914.
As far as Daley Bicentennial Park goes, it sits on top of an underground parking garage that is due for a partial rebuild (particularly its leaking roof) beginning this year. This will involve basically scraping the entire park off of the garage. In addition, the replacement park, the subject of a lot of controversy, will have a completely different concept and layout (and name). Demolition is supposed to start this fall, with construction taking a little over 2 years. Planting of the new park is then scheduled to begin the following spring, in 2015.

I guess there will be again an opportunity for some historical aerial photos for a couple years, while the park's "underbelly" is undergoing surgery.
