That is a photograph of the Uptown Theater in Chicago. It's still there.

Oops! You're absolutely right I grabbed the wrong Uptown Theatre..
I can't seem to find a picture of the Toronto one.. But the point is that condo was designed to try to pay ode to the Art Deco theatre it replaced.

Los Angeles has art deco all over the city but it's best example would have to be Bullocks Wilshire. It's holy. It's just beautiful. Truly beautiful. They really don't make them like this anymore. Majestic, marvelous, powerful, luxurious, stunning, emphatic, graceful.

Found this gem in La Spezia, Italy. My bet is it was actually a futurist inspired building, but it's at least a close cousin of art deco.

Les Grattes-Ciel (which is French for skyscraper, fittingly) in Villeurbanne, France
(Villeurbanne is part of the Lyon central urban area)

There are two of these on either side of avenue Henri Barbusse, at the end of which stands the Villeurbanne city hall (place Lazare Goujon):

The whole area was developed in the 1930s (obviously) in an ultimately successful attempt to give Villeurbanne a proper civic centre and avoid amalgamation with Lyon.
Altough the towers are short and quite plain for Art Deco, the whole avenue really warrants being seen in person.

Most of San Antonio's older downtown boom predates Art Deco, but we have a handful of Decos around town:

municipal auditorium

vacant building on Star St

Express News building

Express News detail

Alameda Theater

rivercenter mall

casino club building
