Wow, a pretty wacky design.

Here's my favorite rendering with the building in the middle of wilderness with an unfamiliar skyline in the distance. Please note the power lines are included.

Hahaha. These kinds of renderings are often outsourced to companies in China and elsewhere and the artists have no clue about context. There is an apartment building in Austin under construction and the renderings for it show mountains and an ocean in the background

Txdev, is this the one you said had renderings that made you react a specific way?

I found a webcam pointed at downtown SA! Not a spectacular angle, but pretty good.

Well I can’t wait to see this development. Did it look particularly tall compared to the rest of the area?

Haha, yes.

To be clear, not talking about the one with the fake Chinese renderings.

Best I can tell from the rendering, this is the location.

The parking garage sure is fugly, and if this is indeed the location, it would be a shame to tear down what's there:

and replace it with this.

It appears to be at Soledad and E. covenant.
I believe the parking garage belongs to the Wyndham Hotel. It is a hideous garage, yet it is an existing garage.

Actually, the location is the rendering is the Korova site on Martin St.

You are correct, that parking garage already exists and belongs to Wyndham.

It’s a great location for something like this. A glass hotel in the actual center of the CBD.

There's a cute little 1 story building on that lot right now, but I don't think it's that architecturally significant to be considered a loss. The other building on this site doesn't look to be architecturally significant at all.
