If it were slightly bigger, you'd have a very good view of it from the Riverwalk level. ~This is where a huge ferris wheel should go, permanently, it'd look great on the skyline here AND would naturally complement nearby attractions, rather than at Lonestar or out east of downtown.

On another note, working on the River this weekend for NCAA Final 4 was stressful, but the money, the views, and the people were worth it.

I was thinking the same thing. The space will not be as big. Gasp... are we advocating to NOT build more buildings?!? lol

I rather this prime spot be empty and open to the public for 10 more years than have something short sighed be built in its place. 👾

OK I guess. But yikes, that thing on page 35 looks like a stack of shipping containers designed by Le Corbusier. Ick!

I don't know the players, but you're right... it must be hard to speak clearly with all that d*** in their mouths.

I went to Overland's Facebook page to see if they'd posted any updated renderings for Floodgate, and I saw this video---a virtual fly-through of the entire Hemisfair project:

https://www.facebook.com/overlandpar...482209/?type=1

The rendering is impressive. Still not a fan of the design. Much less the cronyism and the way it has all come about.

Interestingly enough, in that fly-through they have a massing where the future "residential" component will be, on the north side of the park. Looks like it's about four floors. Ugh.

After that video I'm more disappointed in this design than ever. It looks almost exactly like the office park where my mother works in Frisco. This would be great if it were in north Dallas, but not downtown San Antonio.

*sigh* C'est la vie...

It's not horrible. The east side of the project looks like a college campus in the northeast. So, the shorter model (with no windows) - that's the new convention center section, isn't it? It's a shame they couldn't have shrunk that a bit and then oriented it more toward the older section of the convention center and away from Market Street. Then they could have had that lot open up more into the park from Market Street to invite people in. They even could have placed another hotel above the convention center to maximize density and give the skyline another shot in the arm.

I really do like the open space. Few cities can boast about that much park space so centrally located.

You're right about the open park space and I think that is the one positive out of this entire project. I'm still (obviously) bitter about the design and how it came about.
