My god, the transit I use that usually goes down Broadway, up Memorial, and then St. Mary's to Graham is still being rerouted up to Ellice. This stupid convoy has to end. I'm seeing images in Ottawa of the police starting to move in but it looked pretty quiet in front of the Ledge today from a law enforcement standpoint.

I wonder if Memorial will continue to be blocked. It just shows how little the City and province care about transit riders.

They'd change their tune pretty fast if the convoy moved in front of 118 Handsart Blvd.

Nice looking place. Easily afforded by someone who recently made $30 million in real estate sales.

It's actually a rather modest looking house for the area. I guess compared to the newer mansions. Nice place. Back lane access keeps it private.

Exactly. Nice enough place, but it's easily half the size of most of the newer builds in that area.

It's not, but as you know these threads always go off the rails. Scroll back for context.

If l was a moderator. I would be deleting stuff everyday, because of it not being in the right area. Peg.

I passed by the Refinery District and I saw 6 construction sites with at least 8 midrises being under construction. I think the North portion of the site is also grading the ground for some townhouses. The Fort Rouge development should also be seeing a massive 325 unit proposal from Landmark.

Pair that with the Montcalm neighbourhood seeing sizeable increases in ridership for Markham and Chancellor stations, looks like TOD is actually going to be very successful in Winnipeg. Except instead of Downtown being the destination for a lot of the riders, most of them are traversing to U of M. God knows the amount of induced demand that will occur once the lines on Portage and Main are completed. That Polo-Park to U of M blue line will be at capacity for most of the ride. Just need to get Fulton Grove started and then we're in serious business.

Very cool. Any idea if these have a commercial component? My understanding is TOD is fairly permissive in that way. Would also help drive rides to these stations.

Agreed, but it's weird how resistant the builder is to actually building anything. Last I heard, they were throwing a hissy fit because they couldn't build car-oriented housing. The councillors and public service were like "then why did you apply for transit-oriented development?"

Just based on what I saw at the Refinery District, the 3 structure development by Ironclad will have commercial on the building facing the street. If I had to guess they are saving the majority of commercial aspect for the future highrises to ensure the population developed from the mid rises could make services and amenities financially feasible.

Why has getting rid of two lanes on Portage and building a massive LRT line down the center never been put on the table? The fact that Winnipeg is still dragging their feet on this issue and standing around while every other city over 500k is building a modern transit system is an embarrassment.
