KLAIPEDA, Lithuania - projects of today and tomorrow

Hello people,

I though that it would be interesting to wrap-up all the ongoing and future projects of Klaipeda in one thread, to sum up, how Klaipeda is developing at the moment, and what is waiting in the future.
Enjoy

Here`s a short list of built and u/c towers:

floors, name or adress, use, height, date
gyvenamasis - residential
ofisai - office

Built:
20a. K-centras ofisai 72m. 2006m.
20a. K-centras gyvenamasis 72m. 2006m.
15a. Minijos/Baltijos pr. gyvenamasis 50m. 200?

U/C:
34a. Pilsotas gyvenamasis 112,9m. 2005-2007
25a. BIG2 gyvenamasis 2007?
22a. BIG2 gyvenamasis 2007?
22a. BIG2 gyvenamasis 2007?
22a. Klaipedos bure gyvenamasis 2007-2008
20a. Minijos banga gyvenamasis 2006-2007
20a. Statybininku/Minijos g. gyvenamasis 2007-2008
19a. Dragunu g. gyvenamasis 2007
18a. Kauno g. gyvenamasis 2006-2007
16a. Neapolis ofisai 2006-2007

The propose/aproved list was too big for me to handle with it

Here`s a pic of the skyline that i took about a month ago from a 9-floor commie`s roof:

And now on to the projects...

Firstly, the u/c one`s, in no particular order:

"Gandraliskes" - probably the best known project to you all.
First 34fl. tower is already built, another 40-50fl. is proposed and waiting for it`s turn.

"Dragunu" res. quarter, two towers, 19 & 24fl, the smaller one is already u/c.

"Riverside"

"Manto namai"

"Juros vartai"

"Klaipedos bure"

"Aukstoji smelte" - 20fl. res.

"Minijos banga" - 20fl. res.

Vite business centre

18fl. res.

"Neapolis" business centre

"BIG2"

And here`s what`s planned for the near future...

"Memelio miestas"

"YIT KAUSTA" project in the southern part of Klaipeda, towers up to 23fl.

"Helios" - two towers up to 117 meters.

25fl. tower in Birutes st.

"Grandus" - 20fl. office tower.

Passenger and cargo terminal

"Butsargiai"

16fl. res.

And there`s much more projects proposed, although, we don`t know how much of them is real..

I think it would be a good idea to indicate at least what country Klaipeda is in... I'm not sure if everyone is familiar with that

Wow, this past summer I actually visited Klaipeda during the Baltic Sprint Cup. It is a charming, festive city!

Changed the title to include Lithuania, like Jonas said, not everyone is familiar with Klaipeda...

I'm amazed at the amount of (high quality) highrises under way in Klaipeda. Surpasses Stockholm even, and we're a bit bigger!

Good move, Swede.

And the amount of HR & other building projects going on in a city the size of Klaipeda is truly impressive!

Awesome shots and nice projects how's the construction industry doing over there now, with all the economic problems (globally)? I know it's a problem in Stockholm and I know a few big projects that are on hold specifically due to the banks not wanting to give loans.

Thanks for the update, Arturai! I particularly liked the panoramic shots at the beginning. Coming into Klaipeda by ship as I did earlier this year is a wonderful experience. I particularly enjoyed the interplay of the shapes and silhouettes of the K and D buildings.

True, the current slowdown in the financial world will also slow down Klaipeda's impressive boom and its surge towards the sky, but I hope the slowdown will be of short duration worldwide.

I spent some time in Klaipeda this summer and it really is a modern, tidy city, probably the best looking city in Lithuania. Yes, Vilnius has a better skyline, better old town and is richer overall but it's also got slums and very poor areas that aren't present in Klaipeda. Add to that the sea and suburbs such as Palanga and Nida, and Klaipeda becomes a very attractive proposition if you're planning to move to Lithuania at some point in your life (like me).

Isn't there also the massive project to replace the Soviet-era nuclear power stations that the EU has required?
