San Antonian Wins Google's Doodle 4 Google Contest





Sixth-grader Christin Engelberth of Harris Middle School is the winner of the national Doodle 4 Google competition, which asked students to design their own Google artwork inspired by the theme “What I wish for the world.”

Next time you go to Google your next date or job candidate stop and take a look at that logo on the site's homepage.

On Thursday, it will be the artwork of local middle school student Christin Engelberth. The Harris Middle School sixth-grader is the winner of the national Doodle 4 Google competition, which asked students to design their own Google artwork inspired by the theme “What I wish for the world.”

More than 28,000 kids entered the competition, according to a press release.

Christin's colorful design, called “A new beginning,” includes lots of trees and animals.

Her win was announced Wednesday in New York at the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum with Christin and three finalists present. On Thursday, their artwork will go on display at the museum, where it will remain through July 5.

In addition to a trip to the Big Apple, Christin won a $15,000 scholarship, a laptop and a $25,000 technology grant for her North East Independent School District school.
