P.S.: What's the Mandelbrot equation? I just saw a Nova episode about fractal geometry. He's amazing.
Its a form of complex numbers. A set of numbers and when rendered via application of the equation, creates very nice fractals.

Its kinda cool if you look at some of the renderings using the sets, especially the ones that zoom in and continue to zoom in forever and ever.

In essence, its like a quadratic equation that continues to occur (infinite) as values in increase.

Topology is an interesting branch of math. There's a great book on it by Bert Mendelson if your interested. More like an introduction, but worth a read. Also MIT Open Courseware has some material on the topic (free!).

They were discussing that on the Nova episode. I wasn't sure if that's his signature equation. I had never heard of him or of fractal geometry until I saw that episode. He's revolutionary.

^^^^^

Its even more fascinating how perception distribution via the brain can cause such fractals and infinite zoom patterns. The mind is interesting. Hence my reference to it, because 1000 ug of the molecule in my avatar will cause that!

Computers are one thing, but the brain itself is a high powered organic rendering machine, all via electrical signals and biochemistry when you think about it.

I agree.

The frame and silhouette of this building is pulled off with classic feel to it.

1865 Broadway’s Brutalist-Inspired Facade Reaches Its Rooftop On The Upper West Side Of Manhattan

Quote:
The latest Upper West Side tower designed by Skidmore Owings and Merrill is almost complete. It has been ten months since the 33-story residential building at 1865 Broadway topped out, and now, the façade has finally reached the building’s rooftop.

AvalonBay Communities purchased the site in 2015 for $300 million from the American Bible Society. The sale helped fund the non-profit’s plan to move to Philadelphia. While the development required demolition of a bold brutalist building also designed by SOM, an anonymous source shared with YIMBY in 2015 that the new tower’s facade would be inspired by Brutalist pioneer I.M. Pei’s Turtle Bay Towers. However, the façade is not totally symmetrical like Pei’s buildings, as it is stratified to accommodate different use classes.

A four-story retail base will anchor the 416-foot tall structure, with two below ground and two above ground floors yielding a total of 34,000 square feet.

Completion and move-ins are expected by 2019. Sales have not yet been announced.
