Costs $4 bucks to move a barrel in the pipeline, a bit more for storage at each ends of the pipeline, a bit more for the time value of money of the gas moving down the pipeline over ~2 weeks, and a bit more for delivery in the local market. 'Unexplained', yeah, right. Calgary gas costs are typically 3-5 cents more than Edmonton's since we need to pay for the operation of the product line from Edmonton to Calgary.

Now the drop in local demand has wiped out both the local lack of competition premium, and the constrained local supply (and the premium cost of the trucking up from the USA) it seems.

Well, the gas has gone lower even.. down to 59.9. I remember so many years ago paying 39.9 in Alberta. inching closer to that level

today in Surrey it was 107.9

At 39.9 my parents would fire up the Suburban which rarely was used, and fill it up no matter what!

there are signs telling people not to touch anything like the pump, the touch pads etc without using gloves or paper towel.

gloves or paper towel... were either of these available at the pump?

Until this is over, all stations should be mandated to be full serve, or close.

Ron.

Good Go no! I don't want to wait for someone to fill up. Has there been a confirmed "coronavirus from gas pump" case anywhere? Just carry some wet wipes with you.

Just spray a little gas on the handles, that will kill anything.

good luck finding wet wipes.

At the gas station, I was at they had paper towel.

Coronavirus can live on almost every surface and it can be transmitted by touching objects that an infected person may have touched.

I was at 7-11 today, they have now switched to an all drinks, coffees etc and Slurpees must be done by the employees only, give them the order they get it for you. They also had sneeze guard screens installed. Some McDonalds also has new sneeze guard screens in the drive thrus, they werent there about 3 days ago when I last went through on the Victoria and Kingsway location.

Over the weekend I saw Greater Van. prices range between 92.9 and 105.9. All the rules about going to another part of town for a better price didn't apply because in multiple cases just going across the street could save you three cents.
Abbotsford Petro Canada was reporting 84.9 on Friday night (cheaper than Kamloops by four cents!) but this morning Costco has gas at 79.9.

A breakdown of the gas price in Vancouver, nice to see that taxes now make up 50% as prices are under $1, I still remember the BC government telling everyone that gas companies are profiteering:

Prices vary a lot which is unusual cause they used to try stay the same.

They were, and they will when this is over. Not sure how you can call a fixed tax rate profiteering. The stickers on the pumps tell you how much tax you pay and you can easily find out how much per litre you pay in taxes. Cheaper gas doesn't necessarily mean we stop or reduce funding for transit and infrastructure.

Even most pro tax socialists in this forum would agree 50%+ is too high.
