So close! It's a very beautiful building. Now if we could only get some other great ones built across the street... It's looking rather pitiful.

Excellent Joe! What's that in the lower right hand corner...a roof parapet wall?

That's right, it's my 'tripod' while photographing up there.

You do realize that for some reason this building looks like a dull grey block from Downtown and Midtown.

I'm serious, take a look.

It looks like Terminus, like 1180 Peachtree, moved the curtain wall to the outside of the glass. This looks really nice when you're near it, but from certain angles (or in certain lighting conditions) the glass gets flushed out and all you see is white metal. It happens to 1180 too - look at it at an angle some day and you'll know what I'm talking about. Honestly, I think this actually adds to the character of the building, since it provides a few different "looks" for it.

The difficulty is that Atlanta is one of those cities where growth tends to occur on a building by building basis rather than all at once. When you get a block or so away from the highrise clusters there's often a more suburban character to the streets.

Maybe something is wrong with the coloring on your computer/LCD or Plasma screen , because its not a DULL grey at all.

You make a GREAT point!!!!!! So many people on this forum won't admit to that concerning Midtown, only Buckhead.

Atlanta is a city with tall buildings in the middle of mostly "suburbs". deal with it.

Terminus looks like that becase of the angle and the fact that its a low resolution image taken from a few miles away.

I think Atlanta is great because the buildings are surrounded by the "green" suburbs rather than the "brown" industrial wastelands as in most northern cities and a lot of other southern cities.

I agree wholeheartedly. Just today, I drove through Baltimore on my way to NYC. Baltimore might have a few nice areas, but driving through it on I-95 is not a pleasant experience. It's nothing but ugly smokestacks and industry, no green tree cover like in Atlanta. Don't even get me started on New Jersey

The problem with Jersey is that the better areas are nowhere near I-95, and have nothing to do with tall buildings. Atlanta has a terrific downtown area that is easily seen by all passers-through.

Yeah...i've been all over Jersey, it's got lots of issues. Its probably best not to even go into it. And careful what you say about Atlanta's downtown, a lot of people are pretty dogmatic about Atlanta's mediocrity. Words like "terrific" don't really fly around here.

Clearly, the problem is that Downtown Atlanta looks dazzling from a distance....but not so much at street level.

Exactly! That's the Atlanta I know and love. Beautiful from a distance...look, but don't touch.
